Construction is well underway on the new Amenity Center in the community of Islandwalk in West Villages. The new Amenity Center is located near the southern side of the community near the future entrance on the Manasota Beach Road extension. When completed, the center will include a resort style pool with lap lanes, pickle-ball courts. There will also be a large clubhouse with fitness center, and a second mailbox center for nearby residents. Completion is scheduled to be in early 2020.
Atlanta Braves Spring Training In The West Villages

Construction of the new Atlanta Braves Spring Training complex in The West Villages is on schedule to be completed in time for the first game on March 24 2019 versus the Tampa Bay Rays. This $140 million dollar project broke ground 14 months ago on former ranch land in The West Villages in North Port. The ballpark with an estimated capacity of 8,000 will be the spring training home to the Braves for at least the next 20 years and the stadium will get year-round use, with January fantasy camp to be followed by spring training, extended spring training, Gulf Coast League baseball and instructional league. The facility will also be available throughout the year for non-baseball events like concerts and other community functions. Here is a link to a Herald Tribune post with more information:
